KK profile on InFrame TV

Check out this great little film profiling myself and Steve working on the KK project:

Look out for the silly old-school headphones on my head - look terrible, sound great.

InFrame also did a profile on Lucy Dyson who made the fabulous video for All India Radio's 'Persist'

Writing songs for KK 2

The album I recorded with Steve Kilbey called 'Steve Kilbey & Martin Kennedy Present Unseen Music Unhead Words' (a mouthful yes... so lets call it KK1) is not released yet but I have nearly completed the music for KK 2. I'm getting way ahead of myself, but there's no point sitting around wasting time. Life Speeds Up (good name for a song). KK2 will happen faster than 1.

The song writing process for KK 1 was a bit hit and miss (I'm talking about the music - my half of the equation) and I didn't always know what I was doing but for KK2 the songs came together within a few weeks. The KK rule is to keep things simple and, well, Ive kept it simple. Hopefully not too simple!

Here's a little snapshot of a KK 2 song. The first part is the first demo acoustic guitar recording followed by the same song a few weeks later with more instruments added:

Mixing KK

Here's a very brief snapshot of a mixing session for the KK album last weekend with the inimitable Simon Polinski at the helm. It's not the world's most exciting video - unless you like watching two bald & bespectacled men staring at a computer screen. Ah well, if thats what it takes to create a little musical magic. The good news is that there is only one song left to mix and the KK goose will be cooked! Stay tuned.

The song we are mixing is called 'Another Place'
