Kilbey Kennedy Song Commissions

Let Steve Kilbey from Aussie rock legends The Church and the man who wrote the classic song 'Under The Milky Way' (featured in the hit movie Donnie Darko) and Martin Kennedy from acclaimed Aussie instrumentalists All India Radio write a customized song for you! Steve will lovingly hand craft the words and sing them to perfection while Martin will write and record the music.

Commission a song for yourself or a loved one!

How does it work?
The first step is for you to decide what you would like. Here are some general guidelines:

The music - decide whether you want the song to be fast, slow, medium or the mood to be happy, sad, wistful, mellow, angry, mystical or whatever you like. You can sample our work together here, Steve's work with The Church or Martin's band All India Radio. This is the music we are good at, but if you want something different we will go as far we can to meet your musical desires!

The words - choose your own subject matter for the lyrics, or simply give us the name of a loved one, a place, a memory or an event and let Steve weave that into the lyrics. You can name the song too.

Or you can leave it completely up to us to create something special for you.

What Do I Get?

  • Once in a lifetime song handwritten for you by the man who wrote Under The Milky Way
  • Steve's hand written lyric sheets
  • Signed copy of our previous albums Unseen Music Unheard Words and White Magic
You will also receive regular updates on the progress of your song as well as audio samples.

How long will it take?
Please allow up to four months production time. You are commissioning a song from scratch with many artistic variables and we don't want to rush it. In most cases it will take less time than this. If you have a particular deadline, let us know and we will try to meet it.
